Here at Valley Pediatric Dental, we are proud to offer fluoride treatment for our patients.
Children’s teeth can lose minerals such as fluoride every day. This occurs naturally because of bacteria and the acid in the food and drinks they consume. At the same time, their teeth and enamel get new minerals from the food and drinks. Children get tooth decay when more minerals are lost than gained.
For this reason, many children benefit from fluoride treatments. They are the most helpful for children and teens who are getting their permanent teeth. However, a fluoride treatment can also help patients of any age. Not only do they fight tooth decay, but also they help strengthen teeth.
We have several ways to give our patients fluoride. We can paint a varnish on your children’s teeth or paint it on as a gel. If they wear a mouth guard, we may recommend putting foam into the guard to attach to their teeth. We can also prescribe liquids or tablets if they are not getting enough fluoride.
